ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 May Run Windows 8

ASUS will be using an x86 processor from Intel or AMD’s ranges for the Windows 8 tablet or using Windows on ARM and picking something like a next-gen Tegra chip such as Kal-El and Android version of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 will be cheaper than its Windows 8 counterpart, but the grown up Microsoft OS will allow for more complex document creation and editing. While the Android version would cost the same as the existing one, the Windows model will carry a premium due partly to the cost of the operating system and  it appears that both the Android and Windows 8 models are on track for a release at some point in 2012.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 May Run Windows 8

Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a slate-style tablet with an optional keyboard docking station which sort of transforms the device into a laptop and the dock also has a separate battery which nearly doubles the run time. Currently the Eee Pad Transformer is designed to run Google Android 3.x Honeycomb, but now Eee Pad Transformer rumored to run on Windows 8. That certainly makes sense since the new tablet won’t go into production until later on in 2012 when Windows 8 is expected to launch. Like the original Eee Pad Transformer, its successor will feature an optional keyboard dock with built-in battery for extended mobile use. Windows 8 itself will offer a much more tablet-friendly UX than Windows 7 currently provides, but the keyboard dock will still come in handy for those times when an on-screen keyboard just doesn’t quite cut the mustard. Actual hardware specs for the Transformer 2 will likely not be known until much closer to its release, though Asus could certainly be testing Windows 8 on the current Transformer’s ARM internals. Its dual-core, 1Ghz Tegra processor and 1GB RAM should provide sufficient horsepower, at least for basic testing at this stage of the game. ASUS currently starts the Honeycomb Transformer at $399 for the tablet alone and they charge $149 for the docking station and Microsoft isn’t scheduled to release Windows 8 until sometime in 2012.

Apple To Bring New MacBook Air

Apple might release a next-gen MacBook air soon  and the company is now producing their new netbook, based on the note posted by Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The Cupertino-based company recently placed an order with its Asian partner manufacturers for at least 380,000 new gen MacBook Airs and are equipped with Intel’s newest Sandy Bridgeprocessors that the current-gen iMacs are using. Kuo also added that the upcoming MacBook Air model will feature the Thunderbolt transfer technology, the same new technology used by the latest model of MacBook Pro and the 2011 iMac generation and Apple is reportedly producing 55% of the 11.6 inch MacBook Air.

Apple To Bring New MacBook Air

The second-generation of Apple‘s revitalized MacBook Air notebooks are scheduled to enter mass production during the month of June with an initial build volume hovering around 400,000 units and Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo exclusively told he Mac maker has placed orders for the production of a total of 380,000 Sandy Bridge-based 11.6 and 13.3-inch MacBook Airs this month. The new Apple Macbook Air notebooks won’t be redesigned but they will offer refreshed internal components namely Intel Sandy Bridge processors. According to Apple Insider’s sources at Concord SecuritiesApple has placed orders for 380,000 total Sandy Bridge Air’s, a majority of which are 11.6-inch models for this month June 2011.Apple was said to be ditching Intel’s Core 2 Duo ULV processors for the chip giant’s new line of 2nd Generation Core i3/i5/i7 ULV processors and Apple almost never gives away any information or confirms any rumors for any of their products, the potential refresh for the Macbook Air is no exception. Apple is keeping tight-lipped but the people who manufacturer their products rarely keep too quiet. If any new Macbook Air’s are in production this month photographic proof is sure to slip out. Apple would be adding dual-core Intel Core i7 ULV processors from the Sandy Bridge family. Potential chips include the Intel Core i7-2617M and the Intel Core i7-2657M. Those two chips sip power with estimated TPD’s of 17 W a direct match with the top-end Intel Core 2 Duo’s Apple now uses for the Macbook Air.

Dell Streak 10 Pro Coming To China, US May Next Year

Dell Streak 10 Pro 10-inch tablet going to launch in China this summer, US people may get it in the next year. John Thode, a Dell vice president and manager of Dell said “The U.S. market simply doesn’t offer a viable 10-inch tablet strategy for Dell”.

The Streak 10 Pro, as it’ll officially be known, comes with a Honeycomb-standard 1280 x 800 resolution screen, an edge-to-edge glass surface, two cameras (one of them reaching a 5 megapixel res), an SD card slot, a thickness of 12mm, and 1080p video playback capabilities courtesy of an unspecified NVIDIA Tegra dual-core processor. An additional dock will allow the 10 Pro to act as a USB host, while augmenting its connectivity with HDMI, Ethernet, and, obviously, a set of USB ports.

“China is the largest in the emerging market category and the second fastest-growing in the emerging market category. And China is also our second largest market right after the U.S.,” said Amit Midha, chairman of Dell Greater China. “The China market in units may cross the U.S. in the next couple of years,” he said, underscoring the importance of the market to Dell.

There are roughly 10,000 stores that sell Dell products in China and, by the end of the this year, there will be 2,000 service centers where customers can bring Dell products, Midha said.

Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600 Notebook

Logitech’s Touch Lapdesk holds your notebook, provides a pull-out multitouch surface and fairly cheap-feeling frame houses a slide-out surface with a nice big three-finger multitouch panel measuring five inches across, a pair of giant left and right mouse buttons, and some multimedia keys as well.

Logitech unveiled the Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600, featuring a large touchpad that makes it easier than ever to point, scroll and swipe your way through the Web. “We’ve seen people using everything from pillows to pets to shield their laps from the heat their laptops generate, ” said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for laptop accessories. “Our lapdesks are much more effective and, with the addition of a multi-touch touchpad, you’ll get the added capability to more easily move through your favorite content without attaching additional peripherals.” The Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600 features a 5-inch, retractable touchpad with multi-touch navigation. You can move the pointer with one finger, scroll using two, and swipe through pages or pictures with three. The multi-layer, heat-shielding design of the lapdesk protects you from laptop heat so you can browse in cool comfort, and the anti-slip surface helps keep your laptop in place. To get started, you just plug the tiny Logitech Unifying receiver into the USB port and start navigating. For your convenience, Logitech‘s newest lapdesk offers up to six months of battery life. he Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600 is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in June, for a suggested retail price of $69.99.
