ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 May Run Windows 8

ASUS will be using an x86 processor from Intel or AMD’s ranges for the Windows 8 tablet or using Windows on ARM and picking something like a next-gen Tegra chip such as Kal-El and Android version of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 will be cheaper than its Windows 8 counterpart, but the grown up Microsoft OS will allow for more complex document creation and editing. While the Android version would cost the same as the existing one, the Windows model will carry a premium due partly to the cost of the operating system and  it appears that both the Android and Windows 8 models are on track for a release at some point in 2012.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 May Run Windows 8

Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a slate-style tablet with an optional keyboard docking station which sort of transforms the device into a laptop and the dock also has a separate battery which nearly doubles the run time. Currently the Eee Pad Transformer is designed to run Google Android 3.x Honeycomb, but now Eee Pad Transformer rumored to run on Windows 8. That certainly makes sense since the new tablet won’t go into production until later on in 2012 when Windows 8 is expected to launch. Like the original Eee Pad Transformer, its successor will feature an optional keyboard dock with built-in battery for extended mobile use. Windows 8 itself will offer a much more tablet-friendly UX than Windows 7 currently provides, but the keyboard dock will still come in handy for those times when an on-screen keyboard just doesn’t quite cut the mustard. Actual hardware specs for the Transformer 2 will likely not be known until much closer to its release, though Asus could certainly be testing Windows 8 on the current Transformer’s ARM internals. Its dual-core, 1Ghz Tegra processor and 1GB RAM should provide sufficient horsepower, at least for basic testing at this stage of the game. ASUS currently starts the Honeycomb Transformer at $399 for the tablet alone and they charge $149 for the docking station and Microsoft isn’t scheduled to release Windows 8 until sometime in 2012.

Dell Streak 10 Pro Coming To China, US May Next Year

Dell Streak 10 Pro 10-inch tablet going to launch in China this summer, US people may get it in the next year. John Thode, a Dell vice president and manager of Dell said “The U.S. market simply doesn’t offer a viable 10-inch tablet strategy for Dell”.

The Streak 10 Pro, as it’ll officially be known, comes with a Honeycomb-standard 1280 x 800 resolution screen, an edge-to-edge glass surface, two cameras (one of them reaching a 5 megapixel res), an SD card slot, a thickness of 12mm, and 1080p video playback capabilities courtesy of an unspecified NVIDIA Tegra dual-core processor. An additional dock will allow the 10 Pro to act as a USB host, while augmenting its connectivity with HDMI, Ethernet, and, obviously, a set of USB ports.

“China is the largest in the emerging market category and the second fastest-growing in the emerging market category. And China is also our second largest market right after the U.S.,” said Amit Midha, chairman of Dell Greater China. “The China market in units may cross the U.S. in the next couple of years,” he said, underscoring the importance of the market to Dell.

There are roughly 10,000 stores that sell Dell products in China and, by the end of the this year, there will be 2,000 service centers where customers can bring Dell products, Midha said.

InFocus Mondopad All-in-One Giant Tablet

InFocus Mondopad is a 55-inch multitouch display with an identity crisis, equipped with WiFi and a 720p webam / soundbar, will bring pad-like functionality to your next presentation in a big way. The proprietary software mimics the feel of a mobile OS with basic apps like a whiteboard and web browser, as well as support for Office, JPG, and PDF files. Also inside is Intel’s vPro tech, enabling remote access and file sharing with mobile devices.

InFocus Corp., a digital display technology leader and visual collaboration champion unveiled Mondopad, a giant 55-inch HD wall tablet that combines intuitive touch collaboration applications with Vidtel‘s any-to-any, cloud-based video conferencing to offer a disruptively priced all-in-one collaboration display. Connected with High-quality Cloud Video Conferencing.InFocus has partnered with Vidtel, a cloud video conferencing service provider, to make business-grade video conferencing as easy as making a phone call. Unlike traditional video conferencing, Mondopad requires no upfront infrastructure investment or IT resources, and it connects to all SIP and H.323 standards-based end-points and many proprietary video conferencing platforms-from popular free consumer video conferencing applications like Google Chat, to enterprise telepresence systems from Polycom and CiscoVidtel has solved significant video conferencing interoperability issues so organizations don’t have to hassle with adopting the same equipment and service to connect with external partners.

The Mondopad‘s 720p HD video camera and soundbar are designed specifically for video conferencing to eliminate conference room clutter and enhance the audio quality of dialogue. “Although the tremendous productivity and efficiency benefits are well established, video conferencing deployments among SMBs remain limited due, at least in part, to the relatively high cost and complexity of traditional solutions.” said Ira M. Weinstein, senior analyst and partner, Wainhouse Research. “The combination of the Mondopad wall tablet and the Vidtel managed service yields an affordable, high quality, standards-based visual collaboration solution that is easy to install, manage, and use. It is just this type of solution that will help video conferencing break into the SMB space.” Offering a 55-inch full-HD 1080p (1920×1080) LCD display and designed for multi-touch from the ground up, Mondopad changes the way people interact with information and each other. Sharing documents and visuals in a meeting is extremely easy, whether users are local or remote. Mondopad’s multi-touch display works withWord, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, JPGs and more. Presentation, whiteboard and annotation applications-including a complete set of writing and drawing tools-open the dialogue, increase engagement and make it easy to brainstorm and quickly save and distribute ideas. Multiple Mondopads on the same network support multi-party whiteboard sessions.

Local or remote users can easily share, view and control presentations from their PC, tablet or smartphone. The Mondopad‘s WiFi ensures meeting participants have the right level of access: from authorized users being able to connect directly to a corporate network through the display, to meeting guests being able to easily deliver documents to the display or access the Internet without connecting to an organization’s private network. Remote participants are able to see what’s on the Mondopad via a Web page served by the Mondopad. “From small businesses to the enterprise, InFocus now offers a business-grade HD video conferencing and all-in-one collaboration solution at an incredibly low price of entry,” said Mark Perini, InFocus VP/GM visual solutions. “Mondopad offers a future-proof collaboration solution with none of the expense, setup, maintenance or updates traditionally required.” IT administrators and managed service providers can securely monitor and manage the Mondopad from anywhere. Embedded Intel vPro technologies and compatibility with industry-leading remote monitoring and management software provide immediate access for controlling, analyzing and administering the Mondopad as a hooked IT asset. Administrators can also add their own Windows applications to the MondopadMondopad is scheduled for delivery in July 2011 for $5,949 USD with video conferencing services starting at less than $49 per connection per month. Motorola Will Provide Wireless Keyboard With Xoom Tablet Free

Motorola announced a special (and limited time) offer to giving away Free Wireless Keyboard With Xoom Tablet Purchase Until June 14th. So buy A Motorola Xoom Tablet & Get A $69.99 Wireless Keyboard For Free.

In terms of getting the keyboard, the purchase can be made directly from the Motorola website and appears to be valid for the Wi-Fi only model as well as the Wi-Fi plus Verizon 3G model. Though a catch on that 3G model, the free keyboard offer is only mentioned if you are buying without a plan. In other words, you need to purchase either the Wi-Fi only model for $599 or the Wi-Fi plus Verizon 3G model for $799.

Motorola is throwing in free two-day shipping for those who purchase a Xoom. And similar to the free keyboard offer — you also need to ‘ask’ for the free shipping. In this case you will need to make sure you select the “Two-Day Shipping” option during the checkout process.

The promotion starts on June 9th and lasts until June 14th. Is the free wireless keyboard enough to sway your mind about picking up the tablet. Then go for it now.

Sony Dual-Screen S2 Tablet Hits FCC

Sony’s dual-screen S2 tablet hits the FCC, boasting AT&T-ready cellular frequencies and will sport 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, and most tellingly, 850MHz and 1900MHz 3G bands suggesting a launch on AT&T.

Sony’s just been granted approval for one of their most interesting devices to date at the FCC, the Sony S2, a dual-screen tablet slated to run Honeycomb. The FCC listing doesn’t provide many new details about the Sony S2, but it will apparently support 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and support for AT&T’s 3G mobile broadband network. The device could also support21Mbps HSPA+ wireless networks and most of the information about the S2 is hidden away behind a confidentiality request, there’s one thing that almost always shows up in FCC documents: the placement of the FCC ID label. In at least one version of the Sony S2, that label will be hidden away in the battery compartment. That means you have to remove the battery to see it — which means you can remove the battery. That’s something that will set this device apart from most of the touchscreen Android tablets we’ve seen in recent months. The dual-display setup is probably a bigger differentiator though. The Sony S2 is expected to feature two 5.5 inch, 1024 x 480 pixel displays which can be used together or to display two separate apps at the same time. The device will have a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and it will fold up into a cylindar for easy storage.
