Apple Recalls Some Verizon iPads 2

Apple support forums have been flooded with users complaining about iPad 2s that won’t connect to Verizon Wireless’s CDMA 3G network and pple has given all the stores a list of serial numbers to scan, if company told to set aside and ship back to Apple, these are only for Verizon iPads. The first store to give notice had over 100 units to be sent back and the issue seems to only affect Verizon iPad 2′s right now, a similar situation to earlier in the year when customers visited the Apple forums to complain of Verizon iPad 2′s they had ordered being stopped and sent back.

Apple Inc. announced that it is recollecting an extremely small number of iPad 2 tablet computers to eradicate a manufacturing fault that stop some users from connecting to the Verizon Wireless network. Apple, on Friday reported to different sources that it has recalled a very small number of Verizon iPad 2 models after the items were unintentionally shipped with the same electronic serial numbers. The numbers, publicly known as mobile equipment identifiers (MEIDs), are significant in the activation of gadgets that were use under Verizon’s cellular network and are intended to be sole to the individual device. Trudy Muller, a spokeswoman for Cupertino based Apple company, stated that the recall only comprise in devices of theVerizon network. She added that the company will change those tablets with new ones but refused to say how many clients were affected. An Apple agent announced on Friday that duplicated MEID numbers were sparked onto a very small number of iPad 2 units for the Verizon 3G networks.

Although most of the devices which were involved were still in the procedure of striking the market, a few had already established their way into customers’ pockets. Apple made an announcement at its developer conference on Monday that it has sold 25 million iPads since the genuine tablet was published last year and some analysts supposed that it could sell another 8 million this quarter. However, there have been some problems along the way, including a lethal May 20 explosion at a Foxconn plant in China, which is thought to be manufacturing the iPad 2. This isn’t the first issue Apple has had with Verizon iPads.  Earlier this year, Discussion forums went ablaze with complaints that were later fixed.

Dell’s Prototype 7-inch Tablet With QWERTY keyboard

A prototype that’s lounging around within Dell’s top secret labs, a 7-inch slate that’s adorned with a slide-out keyboard. Said keyboard, however, is hardly typical it’s rocking a split-key design that’s not at all dissimilar to the virtual layouts recently showcased within iOS 5 and Windows 8.

According to Smith, Dell is working on multiple concept tablets, including one with removable screen like the Asus Transformer, but currently only the prototype with the sliding keyboard is being developed and has a high chance of being launched on the market.

While Dell is not yet sure of what operating system it will provide to the hybrid tablet, Smith said that the company has high expectations for Windows 8.

Even though this might be more than a hint, it is too early to assume that the 7-inch tablet will carry Windows 8 platform, especially that there are so many dual-booting tablets out there that can operate two operating systems.

On related news, the company is in the process of launching its 10-inch Dell Streak Pro tablet globally. Currently, the 10-inch tablet is about to make its official debut in China, but Dell stated that it would be released in Europe and US by the end of the year.

Update: So it turns out that these photos were actually taken by Tweakers, who met up with the crew from Dell’s Austin Design Center to gaze upon this prototype tablet earlier this week. Tweakers says that the concept is about three to four years old, and it eventually led to the development of the eccentric Inspiron Duo. Unsurprisingly, Dell also confirmed to us that this device will never make it to the market; but of course, there’s still the Streak 10 Pro Android tablet to look forward to.

For more detail and several pictures with Dell’s unnamed 7-inch prototype tablet visit Tweakers.net.
